Activity #7: blog about technology

1/24/10: My thoughts on something exciting about technology, which won't be hard.

iTouches:
Apple will come demonstrate iTouches for the IH staff. I commented a few weeks ago that if one couldn't imagine how an iTouch could enhance learning (and I certainly couldn't imagine before the Apple seminar) to sign up and come. One of the most creative, limitless tool for the classroom. Students could record (and illustrate) an audiobook, or a story they create. The ESL App blurs the border between classroom and home, proven to be a great resource for English learners. Garageband can be used as a measure of fluency. Screen readers can read to students. Students can iChat with distant students also studying volcanoes (or who live on the flanks of one), with volcanologists in the field. Widgets can be used to make information more accessible - like developing vocabulary, translating text, informing about what is on the lunch menu at school for the day. iTouches can be used as responseware, giving realtime student feedback as formative assessment. One of the parts I love best is that when the iTouches are charged, they are resynced. All additions that students add are removed (after they have saved to their schoolloop lockers, of course). I can provide specific resources for students to use.

These would be an excellent tool to support Project Based Learning (and teaching).
