Activity #1: Introduction
I have intended to complete this Web 2.0 online tutorial for two years. Summertime was the perfect time but the nine week stretch with intermittent internet access was problematic. This year I've found renewed energy and enthusiasm for my craft through involvement in two professional learning groups. I am thrilled to be on our new "Student Engagement Committee" this year whose purpose is to learn web 2.0 tools and what they will look like in the classroom. We made a wiki, attended an Apple seminar, shared books and resources and conversation. My goal is to see how teaching and learning can happen both inside and outside the school walls, engagement in authentic projects which are purposeful and student-chosen and student-directed, giving students multiple choices in how to display evidence of learning. The myriad of opportunities for students (and teachers) to use their imagination and creativity is a paradigm shift for me. A thrill, too.
This tutorial will guide me (force me!) to interact with the tools I've read about.
