My "favorites" in this computer's "bookmarks" is soooo long. There is no organization. I learn where on the long list of sites often-used spots are and then hope they don't shuffle much as I continually add new favorites. In addition to instilling some organization, I would find a way to access these treasures from the web very valuable. I wonder if I can make an Earth Science list of bookmarks for students to access?
When exploring the Del.i.cious site that Classroom 2.0 created for me to play in, the first bookmark that caught my eye was Instapaper. How many times have I bookmarked (or sometimes even printing out) a webpage for reading later. Instapaper will add interesting sites to Del.i.cious with a button "read later". Cool.
I love all Common Craft videos. I watched one about social bookmarking (the idea of social bookmarking was still a little nebulous until I watched it). I wonder if we could share bookmarks with IH/SRVUSD colleagues. I would love to know what sites have caught Joell's eye, or Pams, or Sarah's. . . . We could so easily share our favorites!
The "tags" let me drill further into my interest in "technology" - a fine way of sorting the aspects of a big topic.
I searched "student assignments" and found Quizlet in "everybody's bookmarks". This is a handy spot where anyone can make flashcards or see 1000's of sets created by others. Like the layers of the earth, complete with pictures. I found Edmodo where I'd like to return to. If I understand it right, it is a tool for social learning in classrooms. I want to think it would make student collaboration both in and out of the classroom possible. It looks like it is free!
I searched "bookmarks for students" and found "Wordle" right away. I make this wordcloud by cutting and pasting a part of Classroom learning 2.0: #13. It is at the top of this day's blog.
I can see that I can sink hours and hours just exploring Del.i.cious!
